Our little man is over 15 months old now and has officially (sadly) started looking like a little boy now instead of a baby. He had his 15 month check-up yesterday. He was 25 lbs 7 oz and 34 inches. He was average for weight and was off the charts with greater than 100 percentile in height. He can now reach onto the stove and put his hand on a burner (no burns-we have a strict "no kiddos around the stove when Mommy's cooking" policy)and reach and turn a doorknob to open a door. The doctor asked if he was saying 4 or 5 words yet and, for the first time ever, I had to answer "no" to a milestone question. Hannah was speaking her first clear sentence at this age. What a difference! There must be something to this "girls talk more than boys" thing. But, when the doctor asked what he understands, I proudly answered that he seems to understand just about everything we say to him. So, for right now he is only saying "mama" and "dade", though he has added "itty" for kitty (I don't think it really counts). Since he has gotten two of his molars in and mastered walking and running he seems to be a lot more verbal. I guess he'll focus on talking now (hopefully). He can kick a ball really easily now. And, he has picked up a couple of signs this week. He will sign "milk" some when he wants milk, and he will sign "more" when he wants something to eat. Mostly, he just grunts and whines. If he wasn't so darn cute it might be annoying! I've really been trying to have him at least try to sign or make a sound for the word of what he wants before I just get it for him. His favorite thing to do lately is climb onto the couch and laugh while running from one end to the other and trying to dive off of it before I can get my hands on him. Thankfully he hasn't fallen off. Okay, he did once. But it was more of a gentle plop. When he is headed for something he shouldn't and he hears me call his name and tell him "No!", he runs faster toward what he wants. Rotten. But, again, too cute.
