4 weeks and Much Improved

Sweet little Andrew is officially four weeks old today.

We've had some progress this week. He had a doctor's appointment on Monday. His weight had improved and was 8 lbs 5 oz. Also, he had a bowel movement on Saturday night. Yay! Mommy was very pleased to see that! The doctor said to continue the supplementation of formula after nursing.

I have mixed feelings. While I am so happy to see improvement with the addition of formula, I am nervous that we will have to continue on this road and go past the point of no return with the formula. I have dealt with low milk supply twice before and had prepared myself for all of this because it is just what I'm used to, but I really didn't think it would be necessary this time.

I have started a medication to increase my supply. Today is day 3 on it and it seems to be making a little bit of a difference. I REALLY want to make enough milk to give him breastmilk exclusively. But, all of this is making me stress so I just have to do what I can and let it go. God knows what's best for Andrew and will do just that.

We go in again to the doctor tomorrow for a quick weight check. Also, he had another good bowel movement on Tuesday night. It seems we are on track!

This happy boy has started sleeping from about 11 or 11:30 until I wake him at 3 or 3:30 to feed him. He then goes right back down and sleeps until I wake him betwwen 7 and 7:30am. He's awesome! And Mommy is LOVING getting about six hours of sleep a night now!

He still naps wonderfully. I have to wake him up from most naps to feed him. I'll be glad to have my milk supply increase so that I can extend feeding times some and maybe not have to wake him so much.

Hannah and Hudson love their little brother!!!
