6 Weeks Old

This sweet little boy is 6 weeks old (almost 7 now). He has celebrated by smiling at us all the time and trying to "talk" to us. He's found his voice but sometimes can't remember where it is.

As for stats he weighed 10 lbs 7 oz on Saturday. And, he is getting so heavy.......at least compared to the little bit he has been for the last several weeks. We are still supplementing with formula and have to continue unless God heals whatever problem I have that prevents me from making enough milk for my babies. He is going through that typical six week growth spurt, which seems to be multiplied with his "catching up" after not gaining weight in the first several weeks. He is hungry all the time. He's also really needy right now and wants to be held to sleep during the day. I know he's really too young to "cry it out," but because I have two other children to care for he just has to wait. I can't come running every time he cries. It makes me sad for him, but it's just the way it is. I think the fact that he can't yet keep the paci in his mouth really well has a lot to do with why he cries out during daytime naps. Thankfully, he usually only cries for a minute or two (though it seems so much longer) and by the time I can get to him he's usually sound asleep again. His night sleeping is mostly unaffected, and he still sleeps really well. The last couple of nights he got up to eat twice instead of once, but went right back down. Mommy's glad of that!

He's eating 4 ounces every three hours right now. His day usually starts at 7:00am. He naps after every feeding with a little bit of awake time in between.

I've learned quickly all of his little cries and what they mean. I really think that you catch on to all that stuff faster with each child. His intermittent "squaking" as I call it means he's tired and wants to be swaddled and go to sleep. His screaming cry means he's hungry. His low-toned broken cry means he has a dirty diaper, and his fidgety fussing means he has to burp. He's pretty easy to read and easy to please, really.

He has some floor time every day and loves his swing. He has discovered that handsome baby looking back at him while he's swinging and tries to talk to him now.

All you have to do is look him in the face and he smiles at you. Sometimes I look down at him and he is smiling at me even though I'm not giving him attention at all. Sweet boy.

He hasn't lost any of his wild hair, and I really hope he doesn't. I love it!

Hannah and Hudson are so glad to be well now (and so is Mommy) and be able to hold and love on him. They are so sweet with him.
Comparison pictures of all three kids are coming soon!!!
