Andrew- 5 & 6 Months

Andrew is 6 months old today!!!
I completely missed blogging about his 5 month activities and new milestones, so I thought would combine 5 and 6 months since so much has happened in the last month.
He has just transformed from a little helpless baby to a mover and shaker. He is also very loud! He has started doing so many new things, many of them just in the past couple of weeks.

5 Months:
  • Dropped his third nap (most days)
  • Holds his chest up high off of the floor.
  • Loves floor time and rolls around everywhere.
  • Grabs at everything and especially loves the pull-string toys that hang down on his carseat
  • Can sit up assisted
  • Chews on everything!
  • Loves the exersaucer
  • Wakes up happy in the morning and after naps and just plays happily  until I come get him
  • Sleeps through the night without crying
6 Months:
  • Loves to sing! He makes super loud noises when we sing around him as if he is joining in. The louder we sing the louder he is!
  • Got his first two teeth. He got those middle two bottom teeth the same day on July 18th.
  • Can stand against things (unassisted) for quite a while
  • He dances. When I stand him up and hold his hands and start singing he pulls himself back and forth. It is so cute!
  • Can sit up pretty well as long as he has the boppy pillow around him. He loves to sit up and play.
  • Teething and drools all the time. He still loves chewing on things right now. Loves teething rings.
  • Makes a funny clicking sound with his tongue against the roof of his mouth.. It's his go-to busy noise.
Andrew is really the sweetest and easiest baby. All three of our kids have been very easy to care for and very happy babies. Praise the Lord! He is very laid-back and flexible. We run errands and stretch his schedule constantly. He is a third child after all! He doesn't seem to mind. He honestly only cries when he's hungry and that's only when he's by himself and it's feeding time and he thinks no one is around to feed him. He only fusses a little as long as someone is holding him when he's hungry. He gives a little fussy noise when he's ready for a nap, but it's mostly a whine.
He does seem to get overwhelmed when he is crowded. I've noticed that when Hannah and Hudson or other kids crowd around him at once, he sometimes cries and seems fearful (or maybe just annoyed). It's mostly just when he's on the floor or in the exersaucer when he does that though. As long as an adult is holding him he's usually fine.
He mostly still lets anyone hold him, and he is very friendly. He smiles at everyone who talks to him.
He smiles all the time. All you have to do is look at him.
He is very ticklish and has the most adorable giggle and belly laugh.

Sweet, sweet boy

This is what I found one day when I asked Hannah to go into Andrew's room and entertain him while I got ready to feed him.

He loves his big brother!

This seems to be Andrew's favorite activity- playing in the exersaucer. He will move from one toy to the next, chewing on all of them.

So excited to be sitting up!!!

He loves to stand too and can support himself for at least a good minute or more.

Play time with Daddy

All decked out in his swimgear before his first time in the pool.
(I don't have pictures because I had all three kids in the pool with me)

He loves his play time and is very busy!

Big toothy smile

Getting better and better at sitting up

Mainly for my baby book and scrapbook journaling purposes I want to inlcude some stats.
Andrew drinks 7 ounces usually around 8:00 or 8:30am, 12:00, 4:00pm, 7:00, and has a "dream feed" around 11:30pm. I'm currently trying to back up this last feeding so that I can cut it and get to bed earlier. He still seems like he needs it though. I'll try harder to drop it once he's eating some cereal.
We tried two days of rice cereal back on June 26th but the first night he didn't really eat much of it and by the second night he ate pretty much all of it (two tablespoons mixed with some milk) and seemed to really get eating from a spoon, but he had TERRIBLE tummy pain that night. He screamed with pain for a while. There's no doubt that's why. I thought back on his digestive tract issues we had in the beginning and made a mental note to take any new diet change very slowly and introduce things very gradually and in tiny amounts. We'll try it again soon. He seems pretty content with just milk and is teething now, so I don't want to change anything right now.
He is busting out of clothes at lightning speed. He is wearing anywhere from 6-9 month to 18 month clothes right now, depending on how small they run. He wears 6-9 month onesies and rompers and has to have 12 month footed pajamas. Some of his church outfits run pretty small and are 12 and 18 months.

This is such a fun age! Andrew is so interactive and happy. I get so excited to walk into his room in the mornings and see that little smile and hear that giggle when he sees me. It just makes my heart feel so full. I can't imagine our lives without this little guy!
