My sweet friend of sixteen years, Emily, and her sweet kids came for a visit on their way home from visiting grandparents in north Alabama. It was quite the detour, but I was so very glad that they made the sacrifice of time and extra miles to spend time with us. It was so very nice to spend time together without having to spend it on the phone!
We are so very close and are sisters in so may ways, though not by blood. I am so thankful for our friendship. It started with a friend-of-a-friend scenario and an invitation to campus ministry gatherings and bloomed into discipleship, college graduation, being in each other's weddings, and then years of sharing motherhood and marriage joys, struggles, and daily life. We've spent every year since that second one at Troy University with many miles separating us, but are never far from each other's minds and hearts as we pray for each other regularly and share life together. God gave me such a special gift when he gave me this woman as a friend!
And she happens to have kids about a year-and-a-half older than each of mine (except I had a fourth).
The kids LOVED playing together!
I really should of fixed my hair and put make-up on for our picture!
These girls were like conjoined twins the couple of days they had together. They adored spending time together.
All of the boys played happily together too!
They are just so sweet and cute!
Playing swords is much better with four boys instead of just two!
And these boys played in the water outside for hours.
The kids have all written to each other since the visit, and we look forward to paying them a visit next time we go to Dothan to see family.
It was such a fun time!
