My little pumpkin painting her pumpkin

My little man playing with my big man

Yesterday I put cleaning and my overwhelming to-do list aside to do an art project with Hannah. It was another way to put my new motto into action. My motto is this: When my kids are older, I want them to look back on their childhood and remember that Mommy played with them, did projects with them, taught them, read to them, and laughed with them instead of Mommy cleaning all the time and not using that time to "live in the moment" and enjoy every minute with them. I'll get to cleaning when I get to it. My house isn't nasty but it isn't anywhere close to spotless. It is lived in by a working Daddy, a stay-at-home Mommy, a rambunctious toddler, and a growing baby, with changes, new challenges, and things to do around every corner. Welcome to my world! I know I share it with many others like me.
Our art project was painting a pumpkin. I couldn't really think of any other toddler-appropriate activity to do with it. I used washable paint, but it wasn't even warranted because Hannah did a really great job and didn't even get any paint on her apron. She did get a little on her finger which she promptly licked off forgetting that it was paint and not food. I had to laugh (and get the paint off of her tongue that she stuck out once she realized what she did). Thankfully it is nontoxic. Gotta love it.
She had a lot of fun and couldn't wait to show Daddy when he got home from work. She was very proud of it as was I. She did a good job, and it was really nice to do that together. Well, actually all I did was put the paint on the plate. She painted it all by herself. My big girl.
