Here's an update on what's been going on with our new little gift from God.
A lot has happened since I was 12 weeks along. I am now 31 weeks and ready for a baby!
The progress:
15 weeks: I felt the first bit of fluttering
16 weeks: Doctor's visit- Heartrate was strong at 164. Everything looks good!
19 weeks: I am feeling strong movements. I can feel the baby turn and kick, including every time I roll over during the night!
20 weeks: (Sept. 14) we had our big 20 week ultrasound. We did not want to know the sex and baby was not spread-eagle, so we get to be surprised! We saw everything except the private parts, including the 4 chambers of the heart, the parts of the brain, 2 kidneys, the bladder, stomach, the whole spine, legs, feet, hands, and arms. The baby was waving his/her little arms alongside his/her head. He/she was also opening the mouth and drinking amniotic fluid. We could actually see the swallowing! So cool. The heartrate was 144 during the ultrasound and went up a little to 156 during the doppler check by my doctor. Hudson was with us during the ultrasound. He said, "See baby!" He actually seemed to know exactly what he was looking at. Baby was 14 ounces and measuring at 20 wks 5 days. I am still battling fatigue and am sleepy all the time. I frequently fall asleep sitting straight up (This is a first for me).
22 weeks: I can feel the baby's movement and kicks from the outside of my belly.
24 weeks: (Oct. 12) I had a doctor's visit. Heartrate was 152. My doctor was surprised the baby was still so high in the uterus. I am still really sleepy and fatigued. The baby is very, very active.
28 weeks: (Nov. 9) I had a doctor's visit with glucoe screening. The baby's heartrate was 145. My glucose test was normal. My fatigue has subsided a little but I have been having some pretty severe pelvic/pubic bone pain. The doctor I saw (different than my normal one) described having the pain herself with her second child and said that's why she only had 2 kids! I understand.
31 weeks: (Nov. 30) Doctor's visits every 3 weeks now. Baby's heartrate was good at 150. Baby has moved down in my uterus. Of course I knew that already by all of the sometimes intense pelvic pressure I've had. I had 4 or 5 contractions in an hour 2 days ago. The doctor says to call if I have 6 in one hour. I'm a little concerned about pre-term labor, but the doctor doesn't seem concerned. My pain continues to worsen. It's very painful sitting, standing, getting up, turning over, bending over and doing anything that requires pelvic shifting. I'm struggling physically every day, but hanging on. Though I am pretty miserable physically I want to hang on to the end, at least to 36 weeks. The doctor says anytime after 36 weeks is fine with him...spontaneous labor that is.
So, I'm moving along fast and am interested to see next visit if I am dilating any yet. This may sound abnormal, but it starts early with me. It started at 34 weeks with Hannah and the pressure and pain wasn't as bad as now.
We are gearing up for Christmas and getting ready for baby!!!!
