On July 18th, a week shy of six months old, this little guy woke up with two new teeth! Both little bottom teeth shoved through the gum the very same day. I hope they all come two at a time!
Now they are in enough to really show up in pictures. He did fine with those two but has been suffering some lately as one of the big top ones looks to be next, and he has a hematoma on his gum where it is coming in. The blue area on his gum looks so painful and you can tell it is because when I touch his top lip at all he pulls away immediately. Poor guy! But, he's still happy!!!
Andrew also started eating solid food (for real this time). I tried brown rice cereal once before, but stopped it right away because he had TERRIBLE tummy pain that evening. I waited about five weeks (he seemed to be satisfied enough without it, though he was obviously interested) and restarted with white rice cereal a couple of weeks ago.
I then realized that I timed this when he was teething and thinks it's so funny to stick his tongue out and to spit!
But, it only took a couple of times before he was "all business". He gets really excited when he sees the food and before I can give him the first bite, he's pulling my arm toward his mouth.
I got some beautiful and delicious sweet potatoes and butternut squash from the Mennonite market and have been cooking, pureeing, and freezing some babyfood. He has now had each and loves them both. He eats food twice a day right now, a veggie at lunch and cereal in the evening. I will be making some carrots, peas, and fruits next.
This little guy took to the spoon and hasn't looked back!
