21 to 24 weeks and the big Ultrasound

Monday, June 16, 2014

It turned out to be rather hard getting an appointment that I could keep and work around Rodney's work schedule so that he could be there for this big ultrasound. But, it was nice to have him there along with Hannah and Hudson. We thought they would enjoy seeing the baby on the screen and watching him move, so we brought them this time. We were all eager to see our little guy and take a look at his spine, heart, and everything else. It never ceases to amaze me how God knits together a child in the most miraculous and intricate ways. We were all delighted to watch him twist and turn, open his mouth, and wave his arms and legs around. Hannah and Hudson smiled and chattered about him while we were watching the tech examine all of his organs and such. Everything looked just as it should, praise the Lord!

Our new little guy at 21 weeks:
We couldn't get a profile picture, but caught this one of him facing outward.

I love seeing his little arms and legs moving.

He's definitely a boy!

Those sweet little legs....and look at his arm and hand over his leg. You can see his little fingers!

His heartrate was great at 146 beats per minute, and he was 1 lb 1 oz already. According to my pregnancy by week book, he should be about 6.5 ounces, so he's gaining quickly!

The tech said he was measuring as he should, though.

As of tomorrow I will be 24 weeks pregnancy, a milestone. If he was born today he could survive. And I'm over halfway to full term!

As far as how I feel, I'm tired pretty quickly so I take quite a few sit-down breaks for a few minutes each during the day and evening. I have to. I feel pretty exhausted most of the time, but am not too uncomfortable. I think the hardest thing right now is the crazy dreams that I have during the night. I wake up tired from all of the turmoil of my dreams. I mostly always have random, weird dreams, but these are one stressful scenario after the other. Hopefully that will get better as my allergies/wheezing improve and I can sleep deeper.
I don't really have any more nausea, and the hip pain hasn't taken effect yet. Sometimes the pelvic pressure is too much if I sit in a harder chair and lean forward too long. But, as long as I alternate walking around with sitting with my feet up, I feel mostly like my normal. I am pleased.

No matter how I feel, we are so very thankful that this little one is here and doing well. We are eagerly anticipating his arrival!
