Hannah's FROZEN Party!

Saturday, July 12, 2014

When I asked Hannah a long time ago what kind of birthday party she wanted she replied with "Ariel." Well, after Frozen came on the scene and she fell in love, there was no question whether she wanted to change her mind. Frozen it was!
This was a really fun party to plan, aside from the fact that it is rather difficult to find snowflake decorations in July.
Hannah had a great time making signs for the games, helping roll out, cut, and decorate the iced cookies, and put together all of the activities. She loves being crafty and making things and just helping me with what I'm doing. She also loves planning and and seeing ideas turn into projects and then into beautiful things. It doesn't take much to make her happy, but she is quite pleased by pretty things. She is a girl, after all.
She could hardly contain her excitement in the days leading up to her party!

We had the party at our church again this year, which turned out to be the very best thing. We had about twenty kids there (including cousins) and we really needed the space!
We had plenty of room for the games, activities, and eating.

The party was so fun! We had a great time seeing all the kids so excited about the games and activities and being together. I think they enjoyed picking out crowns to wear and doing all of the the Frozen-inspired things. And most of all, I think Hannah felt very special knowing that it was her we were celebrating.

She loved giving her friends Frozen bottlecap necklaces to wear and take home. She had to keep two for herself.

Our pretty princess in front of the goodies she helped make.
We had cake, cupcakes, both purple crown and blue snowflake iced cookies, purple and blue sixlets, snowballs (Oreo balls), Olaf noses (carrots) and dip, snowman cheese sticks, pinwheel sandwiches, and frozen hearts (white chocolate-dipped strawberries in the shape of hearts.  And we had blue punch with fun straws with Elsa and Anna flags on them. Daddy was great to do a lot of printing of free Frozen printables I found online. It was all so cute.

And she has loved her new Elsa, Anna, and Olaf dolls!

We got this cute little dress from Children's Place for $10 on her birthday. She loved picking it out and I loved that it was so inexpensive! And the headband was 75 cents! I originally ordered her an Elsa-inspired dress from Etsy, but a few days before the party, I discovered that it would not make it here in time. It hadn't shipped yet and since the shipping date was listed incorrectly,  I canceled it. I never told her as it was to be part of her birthday gifts, but she didn't say anything about wanting to look like Elsa at her party and she felt pretty in her new dress. So, she didn't miss it at all. It worked out great!

This was a favorite activity at the party. Rodney had them do it in twos and had laminated the Olaf noses for them to attach. They each went through the line a couple of times. It was hilarious.

"Do you want to build a snowman?"
They each got a kit with snowman parts and used icing to attach them together on a skewer.
No children were harmed in the making of these snowman.
I was glad no one got skewered.

Hudson made an excellent Olaf!

Aunt Jenn and Brody

There was so much going on that I wished I could have seen and heard each part of all of it, but Rodney and I were directing all of the games, so I feel like I didn't get to really be right beside Hannah as she experienced each part. Looking back I should have delegated some family members to help with the games and to cut the cake. But, we had a great time and appreciated everyone that came to celebrate with us. It was so special
to have family drive a long way to be there and friends to drop whatever they might have been doing to come celebrate our sweet girl.

And I'm not sure what Andrew did during the party except eat lots of cake, but I know he was well taken care of.

It's gift time!
And Hannah got some wonderful, fun things that she has enjoyed so much.
It was so cute seeing the delight on hers and her friends' faces as she opened each one.

The #1 thing Hannah has wanted for her birthday this year was new Lego sets. So, we got her the Cinderella castle and carriage. She got five other sets as well. She was one happy girl!

And I think she might have been a little excited about the Olaf  and other Frozen things she got from her sweet friend!
What a great day!
She's SEVEN!!!
