Hudson's 2nd Birthday

June 8, 2011 Post:

I can't believe Hudson is 2!!!! These past 2 years have just flown by so rapidly. Hudson is such a joy to have around. He is so laid-back yet silly, active yet cuddly, quiet yet so smart and witty, and rough yet loving and gentle. Some of my favorite times are just before or after nap when he wants some "Mama" cuddling time. I cherish those moments.....seeing that adorable smile behind the paci, the look of comfort and relaxation on his face as I stroke his hair on his little head, feeling his arms squeeze me tight and his legs trying to climb as close to my neck as he can get (yes, I'm crying as I write of these moments). It's so funny to see such an active, rough little boy love to cuddle as much as he does. It's so sweet. I love it!

The birthday boy when he woke up-the craziest bed-head ever!

On his actual birth"day" I got him an iced cookie from the mall. Cookies are his absolute favorite thing. He loved it! We spent the day playing at home.

Here he is zooming around the kitchen on his new Thomas the Train tricycle we got him. It's amazing how fast his little legs can go even when he's just pushing himself along. I don't think he has any interest in learning how to peddle.

So exciting!

June 11, 2011:

For his party we invited family and all of our new friends at our church here in Cleveland. So many of them came, including Hudson's 2 new little friends his age. It was so hot that day, but we played out back anyway and had a lot of fun!

His party theme was "Things that Go." I put a train, airplane, dump truck, and firetruck on his cake. This was my second attempt at marshmallow fondant, and it turned out pretty good. He also loves Sesame Street, so I decided to do some Elmo and Cookie Monster cake pops. And we had to have fruit-Hudson's favorite thing to eat, besides cookies.

Our little family

I had to include this cute picture of Papo with his "little buddy"

He seemed to really like his cake (in his own quiet way) and tried to blow out the candle.

Watch out Elmo!

Hudson's favorite activity at our new house is riding this little "ky-coh" or "cycle" down the hill in our backyard.

Another favorite-airplanes!

Cousin Gabe is helping him open is Dinosaur Train figures.

This picture is fuzzy, but I had to include it since it's the only picture from his party that shows him laughing. Though he smiles and laughs all the time, he completely turns it off when the camera is around. I think we snuck up on him.

He had fun playing some more with his balloons after nap.

What a great day celebrating our little man!
