Here are Hudson's monkey cakes. It was so fun doing these cakes!

Our sweet boy. I didn't really know if he would eat any of his cake.

At first, he touched it lightly investigating and studying it (our little engineer).

Next came the tasting.

Tasty......and squishy too!

Let me just smear it.

Oh, yeah. That's fun!

More icing definitely got ON him than IN him! He didn't even get the cake part.

As if that wasn't fun enough.........gift opening time!

I got lots of train stuff, and I loved all my gifts!

I got a new ride from my BB and G-Daddy.

Of course I have to taste everything!

We had such a great time. It was so hot, but our backyard was nice and shady, and we had lots of fans keeping us cooler. Hudson seemed to have fun in his laid-back Hudson way. I have found that 1-year-olds tend to be a little overwhelmed with a lot of people around, so the quiet, tired mood was expected. He really did have fun, though. And so did the rest of us. It was such a joy celebrating our sweet boy's very first birthday. We are so thankful we have that sweet, joyful, silly, adventurous little boy in our lives. He teaches us and surprises us every day. What an awesome year it has been!
Everything is so cute! You did an INCREDIBLE job on the cakes! You should go into business ;) Did you make his party hat and banner? If so, instructions please!
