I was so ready to get home to my bed and a normal routine!
And we had some very eager people waiting to have this little guy home.
Hannah, Hudson, and Andrew were so excited to have their baby brother home. They were the very best welcoming crew.
| Right away Andrew wanted to "help" by carrying Wyatt inside. |
They made the sweetest signs for the front door.
| Giving him lots of love already |
Wyatt's first day home
It was so nice having Wyatt home!
We had to go back to the doctor the day after we went home to check Wyatt's bilirubin level to see if his jaundice had worsened (It was 12.0 the day we left the hospital). It had worsened and we had to rent a phototherapy light for home and check the levels again the next day.
Keeping him in this little "tanning bed" wen he wasn't nursing was dreadful. First of all, because my mom and sister were here and were dying to hold him more and secondly, he cried almost the entire time. I gave up in the middle of the night and took him out and swaddled him and put him in bed.
The next day we found out that the time he spent under the light was enough to bring his levels down (from 19.7 to 8.4!), so we were in the clear and his jaundice improved slowly form there.
His first few days at home mostly looked like this:
He slept all the time, even when trying to nurse. But, he made sure to let me know when he wanted a little snack every couple of hours or more.
It was a very smooth transition to having four kids in our home.
We feel so very loved by God and grateful for His work in our lives.
