Wyatt nursed like a champ from the start, and it was good to have the down time to get him used to how things work. Rodney was in and out during the day going back and forth from the hospital to our house, doing things for the other kids who were back at home with grandparents, making sure the kids didn't drive them crazy in our absence and that the kids didn't go buck wild with the change of command. I have to say, I got so bored in the hospital! I should've enjoyed the quiet more, but it was too quiet. And by quiet I mean lack of kid noise, not lack of general noise. There were plenty of hospital employees in and out, but the hours and hours alone with one baby (who slept all the time) was weird to me. Rodney thought it was strange I would say that and didn't understand at all. He said I should enjoy the break. I did, but it was weird! But, I really did savor the time with Wyatt before going home to join in with the others. There he had my undivided attention, which was sure to be harder to come by at home!
It was really nice to not be pregnant anymore! Though the recovery was a little more sluggish this time, I still felt so much better once I wasn't pregnant any more.

Wyatt was such a great sport with all of the testing and prodding that newborns go through. He just mainly whimpers and then settles as soon as he's close to you. He loves to cuddle.
He nursed every two hours or more. I gave him the chance any time I thought he wanted it. He even went for a few three hours stretches during the night in the nursery so I could get a little sleep. But, all in all, we were getting lots of practice eating before going home.
His weight before going home was 7 pounds, 14 ounces. He only lost 6 ounces, which was a really good sign of how much milk he was getting. Already better than the others!
And he was having lots and lots of great diapers! That was so encouraging, especially since Andrew has such an issue with that the first few weeks.
Wyatt dirtied a diaper seven times in his first day! This mama has never been so excited about dirty diapers!
